The 16th edition of the Weldex international welding exhibition took place in Moscow last month from October 10th to 13th, and ProtoFab was well represented. There was over 9454 square meters of floor space filled with over 200 exhibitors from around the world, representing more than 600 brands and attracting upwards of 7000 industry insiders to come and view. These numbers were all up from the 2016 edition, showing that Weldex is a growing event that can attract the cream of the industry. This year’s event had a focus on metalworking, die casting, welding, additive manufacturing, and automation and robotics, and the very latest technology was on display.

Despite the very large floor space, every corner was well filled and there was good interest in all the booths. An event like this is a great opportunity for ProtoFab, so our president Jack Wu made the trip to Moscow to assist our distributor in Russia and their sales representatives.

Our booth attracted a constant stream of people throughout the 4 days of the show, many of them interested in the potential of additive manufacturing for their industry. ProtoFab president Jack Wu was present in the booth to give an in-depth explanation of exactly how 3D printing can work in specific industries and contexts, and also gave an outline of the range of services ProtoFab offers. We also had our top-of-the-range SLA600 3D printer on display and a number of models printed by it, which attracted a good deal of interest. We exchanged contact details with countless potential customers, and we look forward to boosting our presence in the Russian and Eastern European markets through these new contacts.

The SLA600 is our best selling 3D printer. It can print models up to 600 x 600 x 400 mm in size and unit costs are significantly lower than both CNC machining and plastic injection molding. It supports a very wide range of materials, and its flexibility in terms of the size and shape of the objects it can produce make it suitable for all kinds of different industries, including the automotive, health care, prototyping and aerospace industries.
